Confident Speaking!

When I work with my clients, it's all about focus.  You come on stage with confidence; begin your program with confidence!  You are focused on your message, never on whether your AV equipment is going to operate correctly.  That is someone else's job - yours is to focus on the value you're giving your audience.  If there's a problem with the mic, your audience will let you know right away, and your AV person will fix it.  You then confidently start your program again, after, perhaps, testing the mic by speaking until the problem is fixed.  Unruffled, you launch into your program without putting any focus on the mic issue.

Beth,

I love your approach to singing and you remind me of a very dear friend, teacher and vocal Diva, Nada Foster David. She wrote a book, SING WITH YOUR SOUL, where she emphasized the souls involvement with the highest art . . singing! Nada passed away about 10 years ago. Her daughter, Judith Unland, is a singer and lives in New York City the last I heard.
For myself, I'm a singer/songwriter living in Austin, Texas. I'm so glad to hear of you and hope to stay in touch! Take care and keep the spirit!

Kind regards, Dickie Lee Erwin

Thanks Dickie Lee - I am not familiar with Nada Foster David, but the book sounds wonderful! In order to affect real change in vocal habits you've got to engage on more than the mental level. It always surprises me that most teachers never get beyond 'technique' - but you've got to compassionately work on all levels to really free the voice and unlock the heart! Cheers, Beth Lawrence
